More work on the allotment this morning.
I was saddened and annoyed to find, on my way to the plot, that someone had vandalised the Allotment Association postbox that lives on a pole at the bottom of the site. The box had been wrenched off the pole and the back torn off, so it looked to be quite deliberate. What is wrong with people? I'm trying to find a phone number so I can let one of the committee know, but no luck so far.
I dug under the compost heap to try to extract some from the bottom, but it seems to be too tightly packed, so I'll have to do it the proper way and open and turn the heap. Oh well. It was worth a try :-)
I also carefully took down and rolled up the pea netting, so that hopefully it won't be too appallingly tangled when I get it out of the shed to use it in the spring. It's amazing how things of a string/wire nature seem to tie themselves into convoluted knots when I'm not looking.
I also weeded about half of the strawberry patch and was surprised to find a fair few of them flowering again. Poor confused things.
The other important job I got done was drawing a plan (not a very cunning one, I fear) of what's planted where this year, so that I can rotate the crops for net year. It feels as though prgress is being made, which is good.
Today has been very dull and dismal though, so to cheer it up a bit, here's a nice bright shiny flower :-
( Casting nasturtiums )
And another grasshopper. Not quite as bright as yesterday's, but nicely marked.
( Grasshopper of the day :-) )
