We always enjoy the Melbourne Festival, but this year was a bit special, because it was Rob's first year as an exhibitor.
He put eight photos (printed on canvas) into the Open Exhibition and to our great delight, he sold one! It was a very nice shot of a Hielan' Coo taken on our last holiday to Mull. It's not on his website yet, so I can't post a link, but I shall be rectifying that later in the week!
He's already blown the proceeds, on this rather nice piece of sculpture, which is now adorning our back garden. It's by a chap called Phil Eames and is titled "Flight". I'm sure you can see why.
One day we hope to be able to afford a piece by our other favourite sculptor, Duncan Thurlby. Among this year's offerings from him was this rather jolly fish.
We've also splashed out on another picture by Laura Donaldson (this is our third). She lives locally and is a lovely lady as well as a very talented painter.
In the food court I bought Rob a bottle of bitter from the Septimus Spyder brewery which rejoices in the name "Wilfred the Hairy" - who could resist a name like that? And some crystallised ginger dipped in chocolate - yum!
I like 'Flight'. I like it a lot. Simple, but elegant. I look forward to making its acquaintance one day.
Flight is currently adorning the pond outside. It was one of those things that we looked at and went "Yes!". We were quite surprised that it was in our price range really.
After reading about the Beer - Wilfred the Hairy, I am wondering what the design on the bottle was! (Going to click on your link now to see if they show a picture!!)
No picture on the beer bottle, alas. It was coated in wax for some arcane reason I wot not of though.
I try to get the picture up today if I have time.
