Plants and ponds and stuff
On Thursday I finally felt well enough to do some actual work on the allotment again, which was really nice. So some weeding got done and I planted the three pepper plants and the one solitary large tomato plant in the greenhouse soil.
Today it was so hot that I only did a little hoeing and watering and picked a few strawberries.
In the meantime Rob and I have devised a Plan for our back garden.
As I may have mentioned occasionally, our back garden is quite small and dominated by a huge pond built from railway sleepers, which it would be more trouble than it's worth to dismantle. So we've decided that rather than doing that, we'll drain it and refill it with soil, and a pre-formed pond more in proportion with the size of the garden and have more flowers while retaining a water feature for the wildlife that may feel like dropping in from time to time.
We've begun the process by removing the Iris From Heck and the Huge Water Marigold Thing which were taking up most of the available space, and filling the brown bin with them. We've also removed, rather more gently, the water-lily plant and put it in a giant pink plastic tub full of water until we get its new home organised.
Next we need to get rid of the water... Plenty of thirsty plants in the back garden for that :-)
