Glyde Round Britain - Day Thirteen

As befits the thirteenth (albeit not Friday) Rob had two punctures today, one in the back wheel and one at the front. Bah!

He has now reached Blackgang on the Isle of Wight via the ferry and is camped at a site just over the road from the one he'd planned on , which turned out, despite his careful weeding of the site list, yo be only for folk with their own toilets. There isn't really room for one of those in the Glyde, so they wouldn't let him in .

For the Doctor Who fans he spotted (from the ferry) the fort where the Master was being held prisoner in The Sea Devils :-)

Tomorrow he plans to return to England and head down the coast to Poole.

55 miles today.

Grr, he must be thoroughly over punctures. Is this a problem with the Glyde's tyres particularly, or one he would have faced on any similar form of transport? Or just a by-product of covering so many miles?

I'm not sure - from what he's said, it seems to be by-product of using cyclepaths, which accumulate crap in a way that roads don't - one thing to be said for cars is that their wheels sweep the debris to the side of the road pretty well. Usually if you get a trike puncture on the road, it's in the left front wheel and means you've been riding too close to the gutter, where the detritus collects. On a cyclepath, the stuff tends more to stay where it falls, so the punctures can happen in any of the wheels :-(
