This weekend is the annual Melbourne Arts festival. I only spent a couple of hours there this afternoon, as Rob isn't feeling well - we'd normally spend most of the weekend trundling round Peering At Things together, so it felt quite odd to be going round alone.
Whether it was because of that or not, I didn't feel it was as good this year - lots of stuff that was nice and pretty, but very little that leapt out and made me go "Wow!".
The highlight, as usual, was the metal sculptures of Duncan Thurlby, which were marvellous as ever.
For the first time one of the exhibits was in the Parish Church, but I was rather more taken with the splendid Norman arches.
Another first this year was a small display of classic cars , including this rather splendid Rolls Royce.
I was quite taken with this ceramic hare too.
But the only thing I bought was some chocolate. I'd been planning to get Rob a bottle of beer from the Septimus Spyder brewery, but they didn't seem to be in attendance this year, so I got two lots of chocolate instead - one with sour cherries and one with lavender. That probably sounds very weird - I thought so when I saw it, but I tried a sample piece and I liked it a lot, so i bought a bag.
Tomorrow we're supposed to be going down to Hayes in London for a bike race, but if Rob doesn't feel a lot better I can't see him doing terribly well in the racing :-(
