All finished!

Not the most impressive knitted object ever, but not bad for my first project in a several of years methinks. I am rather pleased that I managed to get the stripes lined up correctly when I sewed the bits together.

Now I just have to decide on what to knit next. In the meantime I'm keeping in practice by knitting squares.

Thank you!

It wasn't the colour I originally had in mind (i was hoping for something a little more fuschia-ish) but the local shops didn't have a huge choice. I shall go further afield next time, methnks.

Well done!

A lady I know crochets squares - which she then makes up into variously sized blankets for the local dog pound. When the dogs are claimed or re-homed they can, if the owners wish, then take their blanket with them.

That's a good idea. Not sure my output will be quite that much, but it's something to bear in mind.

When Spot arrived from the CPS when he was a tiny kitten he had his own little square of carpet, which I'm sure made him feel more secure until he got used to us.

Oh, very pretty - you must have a real sense of achievement with that! Well, I would but then I can't knit for toffee!
Catwalk shot next?!?

Thanks!

Catwalk shot next?!?

Not unless they thoroughly reinforce it first! :-)

Thank you.

I suppose I really ought to make an effort to learn how to do Fair Isle type stuff, but all those ends to weave in are very daunting!

With Fair isle you don't need to weave the ends in. You can loop it across the back between the bits of colour, instead.

Oh I see. I think that might need a bit of practice too - I'm very intimidated by multicoloured knitting :-)

It does take practice but it beats weaving in ends!

Ooh, nice stripes. Knitting's not my thing, but this looks very well made, and 'tightly knit'. Kudos.

Thank you. I'm please that you think it's 'tightly knit' because knitting too loosely is one of my major problems with making stuff :-)

OOOoo.. very well done. I admire your tenacity and get-doned-ness. I'll mostly finish something then put it down for months on end only to pick it up and spend all of maybe an evening to actually finish it. You MUST provide a catwalk shot.
Also, there are a lot of webshops that sell wools and such at faboo prices. For posh stuff, my favourite is Stash/Celticove http://www.celticove.com/index.html Their sales (which they almost always have something in) are brilliant.

I am afeard for the lens of my camera :-)

I'll see if I can get Rob to take one later maybe ...

I admire your tenacity and get-doned-ness.

It's mostly that I like to have something to work on while I'm watching telly - I don't feel I've wasted the time then either. It's surprising how much you can get done in a couple of episodes of Jericho or Mutant X

Thanks for the link - I'll go and have a peek later :-)
