Full Metal Wheelbarrow

Today I had a lovely visit from femsc and jestersong and two of their small people :)

It was great to see them in person again and to make the acquaintance of Celyn the Hillman Imp :)

Salem the cat appreciated all the attention, although I think his little feline brain was boggled by the prospect of counting five blobs instead of the usual two :)

I went to Waterstones today to buy the Rough Guide for Naples for some background info on our holiday. I was using my Xmas book token and I had another one from my birthday with a few quid left on it, so I had enough for the fourth Skulduggery Pleasant book as well. That one was labelled 3 for 2 but I didn't have enough spare money for a second book to get the free one.

Or so I thought - when I got to the checkout and the assistant scanned the Rough Guide and told me that one was on the 3 for 2 offer as well and would I like to go and pick a third book? Anyone who knows me  will know that I didn't need asking twice, so (after thanking her of course) off I trotted and was happy to find that the new Falco paperback was also in the offer. Yay! So I got three shiny new books, and only paid just under two quid in actual money :-)

I thought it was really kind of the assistant to tell me that - thank you, nice Waterstones lady, I really appreciate it!

Rob is camping tonight near the Lighthouse Inn at Walcott just north of Great Yarmouth. The nice man there has let him camp for no charge and gave him a cup of tea, so three cheers for Steve at the Lighthouse Inn!

He's only done 60 miles today (only, she says! But he was hoping for a better daily average) but that involved 2,800 feet of climbing, no mean feat for one of the most notoriously flat counties in England!

He sounded cheerful enough on the phone and I'll likely get more details later when he's got his tent set up against the weather. I hope it's drier there than it is here!
