I hunted down and slew four molluscs in the greenhouse today. I don't know if they were responsible for eating my melon seedlings, but they don't get the benefit of the doubt, I'm afraid. Slugs and snails have their place in the ecology but that place is not in my greenhouse.
Meanwhile, the melon seed packet said I can plant them up until May, so I have planted six more and am hoping these will have more luck evading the slimy squad. I also sowed a supposedly fast growing purple broccoli, some more cauliflower "Igloo", another tray of sweetcorn (which I've brought home to germinate) and a single solitary courgette seed, which was all that was left in the packet. Why yes, I am a dozy wossname.
It was baking hot this afternoon, but this evening it's showing signs of possibly wanting to rain and either there were rumbles of thunder earlier or some local band has a really loud drummer.

The expression "slimy squad" is very evocative and off-putting, as it should be. Well coined, my dear.

It certainly has been - I'm beginning to think they've got the months jumbled up in the drawer and given us August instead of April on the principle that they both begin with "A" so no-one will notice.
It's rather cooler today though, which isn't entirely unpleasant.
Well either way I hope William's bride will have a better time of it than his mother. At least her husband-to-be appears to genuinely love her, which is an improvement.
Thank you kindly :-)

^^^ This.
But have you noticed, she seems to be becoming known as Catherine now. Apparently Kate isn't grand enough for royalty. I hope it's not the beginning of a slippery slope for her.

I suppose it's usual to put the formal name on the wedding stuff. Hopefully she'll be strong enough to maintain the identity she wants to.
