I don't do the tagging thing - if anybody feels like doing the meme, then jolly good :-)

What are your nicknames?

I only have one, which only Rob uses and is private between us.

How do you style your hair?

I don't really. I brush it tidy and that's about it. I keep it short, otherwise it's a nuisance when I go swimming.

What's the last book you read?

Cart and Cwidder by Diana Wynne Jones is the last one I finished, but I generally have three or four on the go.

What colour shirt are you wearing now?

Assuming that includes t-shirts (it seems to be current parlance to refer to t-shirts simply as shirts. I find this vaguely irksome.), then mauve. I don't wear buttoned shirts any more, as they always gape at the front on me, even if they're not too tight.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Introvert definitely. I don't do well in large crowds, especially of people I don't know.

Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer?

Firefox. And if Firefox wasn't available I'd use Opera or Safari, or pretty much anything that isn't IE (spit!).

Do you nap a lot?

I don't think I ever do. I find it hard to go to sleep in daylight.

Who was the last person you hugged?

Rob
.

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?

None.

What was the last thing you ate today?

Quorn Cottage Pie and runner beans followed by a slice of homemade fruit cake.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

About twenty minutes.

What three podcasts or radio shows can you not live without?

None I can't live without, but I rather like Science from the Sporran with Dr Enest Otherford and His Inimitable Hair.

And I like the Radcliffe and Maconie show on Radio 2.

What's the last movie you watched?

Alien: Resurrection, I think. The combination of Aliens and the director of Amelie works surprisingly well.

Do you like to clean?

No. I like things to be clean, but getting them that way is tedious.

What time is your usual bedtime?

9pm. But there's generally reading and radio listening before actually going to sleep.

What kind of mp3 player do you have?

60Gb iPod

What is your favourite weather?

Dry and warm but not too hot. Bit of a breeze but not too windy.

How are you?

Tired and stressed and starting a cold, I think. Bother.

Where would you see yourself in ten years?

Somewhere nice, I hope.
Mood:: 'drained' drained

I agree with you completely about the trend of calling T Shirts, shirts. I'm not big on the button shirts, unless I wear them as an overshirt, unbuttoned for the same reason as you, the gape.

I think cleaning is tedious, but not having things clean (which my house is in a shambles right now) is such a bother.

I wish I lived in the UK where they still have proper radio programmes.

I expect some people would say it's evolution of language, which is fair enough, except that it actually makes it less clear what people are talking about.

(Don't even get me started on people who call any short story under 1000 words a drabble, I'll be ranting all day...)

Is the radio where you live a bit rubbish then?

I suspect, if I had to live in a different country, the BBC is one of the things I'd miss most, fo all I complain about it sometimes...

So that's what people mean when they call their stories 'drabble,' well I won't be supporting that term either.

The radio here is complete rubbish. It's either music with annoying announcers or 'talk' shows which consist of hosts spewing diatribes about whatever their current agenda is and taking calls from people that only agree with them. The best show I've heard is the sports discussions on a Canadian channel, they are very funny and informative, but, not American. I may have to see if I can find if the BBC radio does any streaming on the internet, or maybe a podcast (now that I'm in the know about them).

When we ordered a massive collection of Old Time Radio, we received several 'bonus' discs which ended up being BBC radio dramas (including the Chronicles of Narnia and the Hobbit, which I'll be listening to later today) and since they are newer than the American OTR the quality of the recordings is wonderful. They've become one of my favorite things to listen to on long drives.

BBC iplayer does a lot of streaming radio but it's supposedly for UK residents only.

BUT! Someone posted this on one of the Mac Yahoo groups today - http://www.wiki.witopia.net/wiki/Changing_Gateways about how to pretend to have a UK IP address in order to access such things.

I think you need a program called Witopia (http://www.witopia.net/welcome.php) of which I know little, but if the radio's that awful where you are, it may be worth a try (and it seems to come in both Windows and Mac flavours.)

I'm not sure if the podcasts are UK only or not, but there's a list of the BBC ones here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/directory/)

More great recommendations, I'm sure. Once I get caught up with all my stuff (having a mini-holiday is fun, the catching up after, not so much) I'll have to check it out.
