Full Metal Wheelbarrow

It looks as if tomorrow will have to encompass a trip to the vet for Salem - he seems to have hurt his right back paw.  He's reluctant to put weight on it and it feels warm and a bit swollen. We've soaked it in warm salty water today (not something he was keen on, but no injuries resulted) which I hope will make it less painful for him, but I suspect it's time to break out the antibionics again, poor lad.

Our second load of soil was delayed as the unfortunate skip man got locked out of his yard, wherein his lorry was trapped. But it arrived eventually and 127 trips through the house later, there was just about enough soil to finish the job.



We'll top it off with more soil and compost as and when we can, but for now this will do. We planted the first plants in it, transferred the waterlily to the new pond and refilled it and it's already looking better than the old pond. Now it needs a few annuals to brighten it up a bit and some bulbs for the spring.

The good news today is that our three tons of soil to convert our old pond to a raised bed arrived this afternoon, and although it was hard work carrying it through the house in flexible plastic tubs, we got it done reasonably quickly.

The bad news was that three tons was nowhere near enough :-



So there are another two tons arriving tomorrow. I hope that'll do it!
